Background: Charlotte is a young adult female, age 3.5 years old. She has been raised indoors only all of her life. She loves to sleep in a dog bed and not a crate; although she is 100% crate trained, she has been a bit spoiled. She is shy at first to meeting strangers, and can be a bit aggressive and can attempt to bite you out of fear. She would do best in a home without small children and only adults. She tends to prefer one human and usually a female. She enjoys playing with toys, laying on the couch, playing outside and running. She enjoys the companionship of other Chihuahuas, so she would do best in a home with other small dogs. She has recently been vet checked and just had her teeth cleaned. Her shots are up to date, including her heart worm prevention. She can go up and down stairs easily with or without carpeting. She does use pee pads if they are down and available to use. Charlotte is treat ambitious as well. She eats adult Purina Pro Plan, lamb and rice, small bites. Her nails are a bit of a challenge for trimming. She hates to have them trimmed each month. I would prefer a home with adults- bonus if you are retired or work from home and have time to devote to this precious girl. She does fine in the car and travelling. I will be more than happy to allow a meet in greet in a public location if you are interested in meeting Charlotte. However, I am looking for something specific for her home. You will not get to pet her at the meet in greet. You will get to see her and that is all. From experience with rehoming other dogs similar to Charlotte, we have found that it is most successful to come with a crate that I can place Charlotte in to take her to her new home in. She will need to be placed in a bedroom with the crate door open, in an enclosed area with food, water and pee pads until she is acclimated to her new home; which includes noises and smells as well as the new humans. Charlotte will be scared and may not eat or drink until she feels comfortable and that includes going potty as well. I would prefer whomever tries to apply to her to come to Salem, and not be in a hurry. A lot of my Washington customers try to do an adoption and drive home in one day. This would work, but you need to be prepared to drive Charlotte back to me if the placement does not work out. Adult dog application must already be submitted and pre-approved prior to the meet in greet. All adult dogs have a 14 day money back guarantee if the dog does not work out for you in your home. The dog must be brought back to the original location of pick up by scheduled appointment, and a refund will be issued to you within 30 days, minus any fees you may have had during the initial adoption. We encourage all prospective adopters to really think this through and not take on a dog that may not work for you. We want her next home to be her forever home. To submit an application for Charlotte, please use our adult application for consideration. Here is the link here .
Please be aware that Charlotte is from a breeding home. She will not be fully potty trained in a new environment
No small children permitted in her new home
Adults only for her new parents
Must be local or within driving distance of Salem, Oregon
