It is with great sadness that I make this page as a tribute to one of our own puppies. Prescott came into the world fighting from the beginning. He captured the hearts of many and he had fans from all over the country. We were all rooting for this tiny soul to keep fighting. He had his own hashtag. #keepfightingprescott. Little Prescott was the sixth puppy born in his litter from Paisley/Oliver. He was not the smallest at birth, but was rejected by his mother on day 3. Prescott was taken into my care and had his surrogate mother, Stella try to nurse him. Prescott continued to decline due to not being able to nurse properly. I noticed immediately and began a form of feeding him called "tube feeding." This method saved his life, until his next hurdle took over. At his 8 week vet check, our family vet informed me that little Prescott had Hydrocephalus and many other abnormalities and he would probably not make it. She told me to prepare myself. Like most people that receive bad news, I held on to hope. It was all I could do. I had worked with Prescott around the clock for 8 weeks at that point. He seemed to be defining the odds, until one day, his seizures began and there was no way to stabilize him. I rushed him to our Vet while he was in a Grand Mal seizure. It was at that time that I was informed again that he was in pain and his quality of life would never be the same. I had to make one of the most difficult choices in my breeding program. I had to elect for his precious life to be ended. On the morning before his large seizure, he weighed 14.3 ounces and he was 11 weeks and 4 days old. He had the biggest personality in a tiny body. He will never be forgotten. He was loved by so many. Prescott was a very important puppy in my life and in this journey. He taught me many things to carry forward with me. May his memory live on. 08/06/16-10/26/16.
