Background: Macs is a tiny, blue and tan long coat male Chihuahua. He is shy to new people and prefers women, and is a one persona type guy. I am looking for a home that his new owner would be primarily a female so he can feel the most comfortable. He has had two dentals, he is up to date on all core immunizations. He is microchipped and that can be transferred to a new owner easily. We are retiring him from our program because he has a low sperm count. We have tried to use him on multiple occasions and he unfortunately isn't able to get a female pregnant. He will be altered before leaving SFC and he is not available to rehomed intact. He has been fully health tested- which means he was genetically health tested with Embark, and he was routinely checked for any health concerns by our primary vet. He has his patellas and heart both certified with the orthopedic foundation for animals. All health testing links are above for review. He does well in the car and does not get car sick. He wears cute little doggy clothes well. He is not leash trained, as he prefers to be safely in your arms mostly. He enjoys being brushed and groomed. He can be treat motivated. He is dog door trained and can use the stairs. He is not fully potty trained, as he is coming from a breeding environment, but he is used to wearing a belly band. He is crate trained and loves the company of other Chihuahuas. This is an overall very healthy little guy and would provide many years of companionship to a new home seeking an adult Chihuahua for a lower cost than our puppies. Please consider adopting him! I'm happy to allow you to meet him after you send us in an application and it has been pre-approved. I've found that over the years, once a male is no longer around intact females, their marking tendency can be minimized. He was born in Michigan. We have had since he was 8 weeks old. He is on Purina ProPlan for food and does well on this, but his dry food can be changed.
I would prefer whomever tries to apply to him to come to Salem, and not be in a hurry. A lot of my Washington customers try to do an adoption and drive home in one day. This would work, but you need to be prepared to drive Macs back to me if the placement does not work out. A puppy application must already be submitted and pre-approved prior to the meet in greet. All adult dogs have a 14 day money back guarantee if the dog does not work out for you in your home. The dog must be brought back to the original location of pick up by scheduled appointment, and a refund will be issued to you within 30 days, minus any fees you may have had during the initial adoption. We encourage all prospective adopters to really think this through and not take on a dog that may not work for you. We want his next home to be his forever home. To submit an application for Macs, please use our puppy application for consideration.
Please be aware that Macs is from a breeding home. He will not be fully potty trained in a new environment and will take patience and the ability to retrain to establish a new routine
Must be local or within driving distance of Salem, Oregon
