Background: Pheona is a blue and tan smooth coat female Chihuahua. She was purchased by us with the intentions of being a future prospect for our breeding program, but due to an issue we are unsure of, we have chosen to place her in a forever pet home where she can be spayed. Pheona is genetically heatlh tested and although she is cleared in all breed relevant categories, she has severe hair loss. Further research shows that she could have a condition called color dilution alopecia, but this is not diagnosed by a Veterinarian- this is my own observation. She is pee pad trained, dog door trained, crate trained, but not leash trained. She does just fine in the car. She is very loyal to me so would do well with a female human companion as her new mom. She will be microchipped before leaving SFC and she will come with 1 month of free pet insurance. I will not be offering my 1 year limited genetic health guarantee, since I did not produce this young girl and her adoption fee is very reasonable. However, I will provide lifetime breeder support. Pheona does get along with other dogs. She prefers small breeds like herself. She also would be fine being an only child in her new home. She has been recently vet checked where she received an exit examination and her 1 year Rabies vaccine. She will be required to be spayed by her new owner in her new home. She is not eligible for breeding and her AKC papers will not be provided. She loves fluffy beds, dog toys, bones, dog treats, which we call "cookies". Her name can be changed to something you prefer if Pheona isn't a name you're crazy about. Her vet records and health testing are under this name. She might be shy or timid at first with a new owner and in a new home. We usually recommend that you are experienced with adopting dogs with previous backgrounds and you must be experienced with Chihuahuas. She eats Purina ProPlan, lamb and rice, for all life stages. She has a very fast metabolism and would actually benefit if she was put back on puppy food. She is up to date on her core vaccines- which include distemper and Parvo. She has received Interceptor plus monthly for heartworm and we recommend continuing this. She has been de-wormed annually. Please do not send in an application if you are not open to allowing her time to learn who you are or her new home. It generally takes 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn a new routine, and 3 months to start to feel at home. We do require that you submit a puppy application for consideration. This is not a first come first serve placement. The application fee is non-refundable. I will allow public meet in greets for local families. Shipping is available with a pet nanny for an additional charge. Delivery fee is applicable if you are not able to pick up in Salem, Oregon.
