Background: Pistachio is a smooth coat, blue Merle male that has already been altered and retired from our program. Last Fall we noticed an unusual tilt to his neck when outside playing with the dogs and we had him examined by our primary vet and had x-rays completed and examined by a radiologist. We were then transferred up to see a neurologist where we found out that Pistachio has a form of Scoliosis. He is in no pain and shows no new symptoms to his condition, but because of the change in physical structure, we elected to have him neutered. He does not have any injuries to his back or any disease as far as the professionals were able to conclude. We are offering him to a good home for a low adoption fee. He really is a wonderful boy. He loves going bye-bye and he is very people friendly as well as dog friendly. He has a double smooth coat and loves to be brushed. He has a slight tilt to his physical appearance but truly, he is a great young dog that could provide a family with many years of companionship. Please do not let this stop you from considering his adoption. I'm happy to allow you to meet him after you send us in an application and it has been pre-approved. He does wear size small belly bands in our house to keep him from lifting his leg, but please keep in mind that I do still have a breeding program and females that come into season causing my males to want to mark. I've found that over the years, once a male is no longer around intact females, their marking tendency can be minimized.  Pistachio is a really happy boy and talks to you for attention. Truly adorable characteristics. He was born in Michigan. We have had him almost a year (February). Pistachio is up to date on all immunizations, including his Rabies. He is microchipped and that can be transferred into a new owners name easily. He is on Purina ProPlan for food and does well on this, but his dry food can be changed.

I would prefer whomever tries to apply to him to come to Salem, and not be in a hurry. A lot of my Washington customers try to do an adoption and drive home in one day. This would work, but you need to be prepared to drive Pistachio back to me if the placement does not work out. A puppy application must already be submitted and pre-approved prior to the meet in greet.  All adult dogs have a 14 day money back guarantee if the dog does not work out for you in your home. The dog must be brought back to the original location of pick up by scheduled appointment, and a refund will be issued to you within 30 days, minus any fees you may have had during the initial adoption. We encourage all prospective adopters to really think this through and not take on a dog that may not work for you. We want his next home to be his forever home. To submit an application for Pistachio, please use our puppy application for consideration.

  • Please be aware that Pistacho is from a breeding home. He will not be fully potty trained in a new environment and will take patience and the ability to retrain to establish a new routine

  • Must be local or within driving distance of Salem, Oregon

  • No shipping available

  • Meet in greet required to see if you're a match for him after application has been submitted and approved
