Background: Willow is retiring from our breeding program. She is just under 2 years old in age. She is a lilac (chocolate blue), long coat female Chihuahua. Willow was born and raised her at SFC. She comes to you fully health tested and retiring due to no particular reason, other than it's her turn! She is a very healthy young lady. She is incredibly loyal to her favorite humans and would make a great companion dog to the right home. She does appear a bit shy upon meeting, so please do not fault her for this. Willow is Saleena's daughter, who is also listed up for rehoming/retirement.  She is very outgoing and spunky in her current home, but new settings are challenging for her until she relaxes. She has always done well for us in the car on car rides. She does well at the vet with the vet staff. She is a minimal barker. She does play with toys from time to time. She loves to chew on cow hooves and lay around on the couch. She very much enjoys the company of other Chihuahuas, but would also do well with other breeds. She is larger than the average Chihuahua. She sits at about 9.0 lbs right now. She is scheduled to be spayed this month and will be available to her forever home shortly after. We are allowing Willow to be shipped to an out of state home if the right application presents itself, otherwise, we are allowing meet and greets as well with an approved application on file. She is treat motivated. She uses a dog door, she is pee pad trained and does very well in her current environment. A new environment will require new training to be implemented so please have patience with her adjustment period. Willow is not currently leash trained but she has worn a harness and does well in it.

Like every animal we post for rehoming, we hope you would understand that they will have accidents initially and will need patience! We have rehomed a lot of dogs over the years and they all seem to mesh into a new environment fairly well with time and patience. She is a very loving companion and would be an ideal pet for someone who needs a constant friend nearby. Please consider Willow for your home and family.

We encourage all prospective adopters to really think this through and not take on a dog that may not work for you. We want her next home to be her forever home. To submit an application for Willow, please use our puppy application for consideration.

  • Please be aware that Willow is from a breeding home. She will not be fully potty trained in a new environment and will take patience and the ability to retrain to establish a new routine

  • Please read the post below about the 3/3/3 rule! Not one dog is like another and you need to be open minded when adopting an adult dog who is very used to their current environment

  • Shipping available

  • Meet in greet recommended but not required
