Vaccines and Parasite Prevention

Vaccines

Our puppies will leave our hands with their vaccinations up to date for their appropriate ages and you will have a vaccine health record to keep and take to your vet. We use Nobivac Canine 1-DAPPv, which prevents Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 1 (Hepatitis), Adenovirus Type 2 (Respiratory Disease), Parainfluenza, and Parovirus. It also protects against all known strains of Parvo. This vaccine will be first administered to the puppy at the age of 8 weeks of age or older, and then repeated again at 11-12 weeks, if your puppy is in our care long enough to receive this vaccine. It's recommended to be administered again 16 weeks and then at yearly intervals. The amount of doses that your puppy will receive will vary from puppy to puppy because it will depend on how long your puppy is in our care at Salem's Finest.

Our puppies also leave our care protected from contracting kennel cough. We use Nobivac Canine Intra-Trac Oral Bb which uses an avirulent live culture to safely expose dogs to the virus and help them build immunity.

Parasite Prevention

Puppies will have doeses of Parasite Prevention, also known as "dewormer," at the ages of 2, 4, 6, 8 & sometimes 10 weeks depending on how long the puppy is in our care. The wormer we use is Nemex -2 which contains Pyrantel and it removes large roundworms and hookworms. The wormer also prevents the worms from returning. Our lactating females will also be treated for Parasite Prevention about 2-3 weeks after whelping their puppies. Puppies are also treated with Panacur during their 7th week for five days in a row, prior to leaving Salem's Finest.
