Background: Brooklyn is a 7 old female Chihuahua. She was born and raised at SFC. Brooklyn has belonged to our son her entire life and has only known what spoiled feels like. She prefers to sleep in bed but could find a comfortable spot on he couch or in a dog bed. She is a one person dog. She prefers my son but does like me too. She has high anxiety when left alone or put in a crate. She will do well with a retired person who is home all the time and wants the company of a dog to accompany them. Or someone who works from home. We do not recommend that Brooklyn be placed in a home with small children. We are looking for an adult only home. We also are looking for a person who wants to bond with Brooklyn independently and won't force her to be a family dog. She is a one person type dog. Brooklyn retired from our program several years ago and has remained as my son's pet. Unfortunately, our son is moving out and is unable to take all of his dogs with him and we can't keep her either. This is very sad for us, but we have to do what's best for Brooklyn. We are looking for a new owner who is willing to adopt an older, retired adult female. She is up to date on Distemper/Parvo and Rabies. She has had dental cleanings and routine Vet care. She is microchipped.

She knows her name pretty well, but it can be changed if necessary.

Brooklyn is coming from a breeding environment so will need to be potty trained in a new environment. At this time she is used to indoor potty pads and a dog door to use her yard. Like every animal we post for rehoming, we hope you would understand that they will have accidents initially and will need patience!  Brooklyn does well in the car and does not get car sick. She is dog door trained and crate trained. She is not leash trained, but can be trained easily. We have rehomed a lot of dogs over the years and they all seem to mesh into a new environment fairly well with time and patience. She is a very loving companion and would be an ideal pet for someone who needs a constant friend nearby. Please consider Brooklyn for your home and family.

We encourage all prospective adopters to really think this through and not take on a dog that may not work for you. We want her next home to be her forever home. To submit an application for Brooklyn, please use our puppy application for consideration.

  • Please be aware that Brooklyn is from a breeding home. She will not be fully potty trained in a new environment and will take patience and the ability to retrain to establish a new routine

  • Please read the post below about the 3/3/3 rule! Not one dog is like another and you need to be open minded when adopting an adult dog who is very used to their current environment

  • Shipping is not available on Brooklyn

  • Meet in greet required
