Background: Fonzie is seriously the life of any party! He is comical and he will surly make you laugh and smile! He is a great little dog. He is about to turn 5 years old this month and has already been neutered. His final litter was just born. We opted to retire him due to his age so he could enjoy his life as a retired companion. He gets along with pretty much any female and most males. He can be a bit dominant with some males, but we have noticed this behavior mostly around other intact males and not neutered males. We do not have any cats or small children in the home, but we are open to a home with either. He does well in the car and on a leash with a harness. He is NOT potty trained. This is a male that has been intact for his entire five years of life and he marks his smell on just about everything. When indoors, he wears a bellyband. He chooses to not use the dog door or any stairs. He has short legs and a cobby body. He is very show quality according to the AKC standards. Fonzie's health has been pretty typical. He does occasionally play with toys. He loves to chew on bones (cow hooves, bully sticks). He is a good boy.

He recently developed some deposits over his eyes and we took him to the ophthalmologist who did a full eye evaluation and said his eyes were perfectly fine and his vision is not affected and he is not in any pain. The deposits developed due to his diet. He needs to lose weight and we are hoping that a new home would be willing to work with him on diet and exercise. If his eyes continue to get more deposits, our ophthalmologist suggested having him seen again and possible eye drops might be prescribed. The name of the condition in which he has developed is called "Cornea Stromal Dystrophy".

Fonzie grunts and snores due to his short muzzle. He has had several dental cleanings over the course of his life and has had a lot of his teeth removed, but he can still eat without any issues. He comes already microchipped and his Rabies vaccine is current. His core boosters (distemper/parvo) are always up to date.

Fonzie came to us in 2020 and has had a few homes prior to that. He seems to mesh into a new environment with ease, but please allow him the time to decompress and learn his new environment. If you are looking for a little side kick, look no further, Fonzie is the best little guy and you'll be so lucky to get to adopt him.

I would prefer whomever tries to apply to him to come to Salem, and not be in a hurry. A lot of my Washington customers try to do an adoption and drive home in one day. This would work, but you need to be prepared to drive Fonzie back to me if the placement does not work out. A puppy application must already be submitted and pre-approved prior to the meet in greet.  All adult dogs have a 14 day money back guarantee if the dog does not work out for you in your home. The dog must be brought back to the original location of pick up by scheduled appointment, and a refund will be issued to you within 30 days, minus any fees you may have had during the initial adoption. We encourage all prospective adopters to really think this through and not take on a dog that may not work for you. We want his next home to be his forever home. To submit an application for Fonzie, please use our puppy application for consideration.

  • Please be aware that Fonzie is from a breeding home. He will not be fully potty trained in a new environment and will take patience and the ability to retrain to establish a new routine

  • Must be local or within driving distance of Salem, Oregon

  • No shipping available

  • Meet in greet required to see if you're a match for him after application has been submitted and approved
