🐶 About Daytona

Daytona was born and raised here at Salem’s Finest Chihuahuas. She is retiring from our program and not for any particular reason, other than it's turn! She has been an integral part of our growing development over the years and she has blessed us with a few litters during her time with us. She is a 2nd-generation SFC girl. Daytona is a true Chihuahua’s Chihuahua — she absolutely adores the company of her own kind and would thrive in a home with other small breed dogs. Companionship is where she shines brightest. She is what we lovingly call a team player. Throughout her time here, Daytona has happily helped raise puppies that weren’t even her own and has always preferred having her Chihuahua friends nearby. She takes comfort in a pack setting and gains confidence from canine companionship. With people, Daytona can be a bit reserved at first. New environments and unfamiliar faces may make her nervous, and she will need time to acclimate. However, once she settles in and begins to feel safe, her sweet and endearing personality starts to show. She is not a dog who will instantly run into someone’s arms — but she will form meaningful bonds with patience and consistency. Daytona enjoys the simple pleasures. She loves burrowing into blankets (a true Chihuahua classic), and she has even confidently played in a kiddie pool during the summer months. She has done well in the car on shorter trips to our veterinary clinics, though she hasn’t had experience with long-distance travel. She will need a patient, understanding home that allows her the time she needs to adjust. With the right family — especially one with other small dogs — Daytona will blossom into a loyal and wonderful companion.

If you’re looking for a sweet girl who values companionship, stability, and the comfort of a pack, Daytona may be your perfect match. 🤍

She is:

• Potty pad trained

• Dog door trained (goes outside to potty)

• Treat motivated

• Crate trained

• She is not yet leash trained but would learn quickly

• Easy to groom and trim nails

• Docile and social with both men and women

• She been exposed to small children and larger dogs

She will likely need potty training reinforcement in a new environment, especially during her adjustment phase. Most dogs improve quickly once altered and removed from a breeding setting, but accidents are to be expected in the beginning.

• Shipping available (at adopter’s expense; return shipping is also your responsibility if the placement doesn’t work out)
