Spay Required: New owner agrees to spay Yara within 120 days of adoption
Application Required: Puppy & Dog Application

Yara was born here at Salem’s Finest Chihuahuas and was originally intended to be part of our breeding program. She has completed ALL of our rigourous health testing and passed just fine. Unfortunatly, we just think she is too small to be a future mama dog. We are choosing to place her in a forever pet home that agrees to have her spayed within 120 days of adoption.

Yara is a very sweet and submissive little girl. She would do great in a home with or without other dogs and may even do well with cats, despite never being around cats previously. She is treat motivated. She is currently dog door trained, pee pad trained, crate trained, but she is NOT leash trained. This will be up to the new owner to complete. She can have her name changed. Her current name was inspired by Game of Thrones.

She is up to date on all immunizations including her Rabies. She comes to you microchipped. She is genetically health tested with Embark Vet. She technically is tested for eyes, patellas and cardiac, but I didn't submit the paperwork to OFA, so it is not published on the database.

This includes:
✔️ Genetic health testing via Embark (clear of all breed-relevant conditions)
– Patellas: Clear
– Heart: Clear of murmur
– Eyes: Certified by an ophthalmologist

🐾Yara's Personality & Training

Yara is a very sweet, gentle soul with a calm nature. She is:

  • Pee pad trained

  • Dog door trained

  • Pen & crate trained

  • NOT currently leash trained

She enjoys the company of other Chihuahuas and people, but can be shy initially. She does need more socialization in time after her decompression and acclimation period.

She may be a little shy at first in a new setting or with new people—but once she settles in, she truly blossoms into a loving little companion.

🏠 What She’s Looking For

Yara would thrive in a home:

  • With other dogs (including larger breeds) or a single dog home

  • That may include cats

  • We are unsure how she would do with small children

  • Willing to be patient while she adjusts

  • Food monitoring to help her lose weight and maintain a healthier lifestyle

Potty Training Disclaimer:
While she is potty trained here, we cannot guarantee she will be in a new environment. Like all of our rehomed adults, we recommend being open-minded and ready to reintroduce her to a new routine.

Please also read our post below on the 3-3-3 Rule—it helps outline what to expect during a dog’s transition period.
